Hi my name is Charles and I have over 20 years experience in counselling. I currently practice in Oriel Chambers on Water Street, I minutes walk from Liverpool Town Hall, (L2 8TD) using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I am also a qualified Person Centred counsellor covering anxiety, depression and extreme stress from panic to sleep problems. Sessions can be held face to face, on line, via video call or telephone, depending on your needs, or home visits to help with social anxiety.
I have been an experienced, qualified counsellor since June 2006 and I am a registered member of the BACP. I work within their guidelines to support your needs. I also work to help you gain control of difficult issues that may be causing problems with your daily routine.
My Practice as a therapist covers most counselling issues relating to, stress, anxiety and depression. I also work with more complex issues around, OCD and PTSD helping you to understand difficult thoughts and feeling related to these issues.
I also work with phobias by helping you to gain an insight into the difficult and complex thoughts and feeling behind these conditions. My practice as a therapist is a collaborative relationship, helping you to work towards a desired outcome. I also use Psycho-educational based tools to help you gain the right information, and become more insightful of what works for you and mindfulness to help you become more aware of what triggers your thoughts and behaviours.
Alongside my therapy services, I am a trainer in counselling and CBT. I offer introductory training days for groups or individual or counsellors. For more information please get in touch.
Therapy helps you to unblock difficult issues that are holding you back, and to learn new and pro-active ways around sensitive issues. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) gives you the tools to help you deal with everyday triggers that would normally be missed when under pressure. I am also an experienced mindfulness practitioner and use these skills to help you to hold difficult thoughts and feeling, working on a deeper level with you triggers.
My counselling practice contains the use of brief therapy (6 sessions) or longer CBT session (12 to 18 sessions). Both practices help you to focus on issues that you may be finding difficult to talk about with family and friends. My practice is designed to help you gain skills and strategies, towards balancing everyday triggers and reflection around your personal growth.
Counselling is the start of a new journey, which helps you to discover new parts of your personality. These new growths helps to open new pathways of understanding about your self, and those around you. Changing does not always have to difficult, it can be very rewarding and successful in a mindful way.
As a counsellor I use both Person Centred Counselling and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to help you support yourself in your daily activities. Person centred therapy, is a non judgemental approach, providing a safe space, to help you explore difficult issues. CBT is a more directive approach, which believes that it is your thoughts that create your feeling, emotions and behaviours.
My practice tends to fall between both modalities, or I can use each one singularly to support your needs. I also use Mindfulness based techniques in supporting stress, anxiety and depression. Both CBT and person centred therapy is done on a weekly base, to help you to gain control of difficult issues in your daily life.
